It makes me feel sick when I realise that I was comfortably watching a movie in a Multiplex theatre when people in the commercial capital of India were battling yet another terror attack.
And when I remember that my dad was in that city a couple of weeks ago..
Terrorism was one of the topics in my ISB interview.
I had diplomatically downplayed the importance of intelligence failure and lack of aggressiveness on the part of the authorities in curbing terror and spoke about need for inclusion and blah.. blah.. blah..
I was wrong.. I shouldn't have said that.. I should have said "we need to track these buggers down, nail them and .....".
Tell me, why shouldn't I feel that way ?
Can we control our feelings...
- when we see that so many innocent people died and many other literally terrorized...
- when we see that the guests of our nation have been targetted...
- when we see that some dedicated police officers died in the ensuing battle....
- when we see that they have succeeded in making England call of their India cricket tour mid-way...
- when we see that they are close to being successfull in frightening business groups from doing business with India
It really makes me feel sick when I see that these guys had now dared to come out in the open to wage a direct war.. in the city of Mumbai!!!
Have we projected a picture of incompetence all these days ?? Its different when they act in the form of sleeper cells and attack us through blasts. We could think of them as acts of crazy cowards. But, to let them declare a war is different.
Its not about marginalisation of the classes of the society.. its not about lack of inclusion in the growth story.. its about projecting a picture of incompetence... its about giving them a feeling that they can go scot free no matter what they do.. its about telling them do what you want as no one is tracking you.
This should change.
I would say "Terrorize the terrorists".
